Venue Visits 2017

One of my personal favorite things about working in the wedding world is getting to go to all the venues around the state! This season I had three new venues that I have not worked at before that I had to make a trip to this early summer. Each one so different and the perfect canvas to start with for these couples. 

Venue visits are extremely important for a few reasons....

1. Sometimes the style of decor does not match the style of venue. While this may not seem like a big deal to many or a big deal at first just imagine walking into a very modern hall and using antiques everyone. NOW this can be done in a tasteful manner because like I say design has no rules but its a hard thing to pull off especially for a temporary environment where your fighting the permanency of the halls architecture and fixtures. We always design decor to compliment the venue not compete with it. When your decor competes with the venue it draws too much attention. The decor should create emphasis but not steal attention from the true stars..

2. It gives us a chance to meet the staff!! The day of is a whirlwind and I cannot tell you how many times I have been given weird looks when walking into a hall. I don't blame them, I am me, short, moving super fast, most likely with my hair a mess and sweating like crazy. Its just how it is setup day sorry ladies its not the prettiest thing to be the one staging but its okay because we save the pretty stuff for our clients. 

3. To get comfortable with the floor plan. Its important to not waste time on the day of so we like to walk the space to make sure we know where the simple things are. The entry for example, walking around a building ten times carrying multiple bins is not a fun task.. We find out where we can store our bins, where we can park, unload, re-load ext.

4. Its a comfort thing.. Just like any of our other extra prep that we do its a comfort thing for us and for the client. We take interest in EVERY SINGLE event so doing the extra leg work to go visit the venues is the least we can do for our clients. I mean a wedding is a big deal and they are trusting us! So we do our best to make sure we take as many preparatory steps as we can.
