It's hard to believe that we were finally able to have our celebration this past October! WOAH it was one hell of ride. Jesus and I both say regularly that it is such a bittersweet feeling looking back. We are so happy to have been able to have the celebration but after having something like that to look forward to for so long, at times we miss the process. While there is so much to tell y'all about the day I wanted to start with a quick thank you from us, officially The Sancens.
Then of course we have to give a HUGE shoutout to all our amazing vendors. To the ones who stuck with us from the beginning and the ones we had to pick up along the way. I cannot stress enough how important it is to have a solid vendor team for any event. We will be forever grateful for their hard work and passion in helping us execute our celebration! Amanda Biddle Photography - Videography / Rockstar Rentals - Catering Tent &Restroom Trailers ARC Design Studios LLC - Florals ( All ) / Megan Olson & Katie Bartlebaugh - Day of Setup While we knew that throwing this type of celebration at home would be tricky, we were excited for the flexibility it gave us to work on some of the detail items we wanted to incorporate. Bottom line the goal was to make each piece of this party personalized to us and we couldn't be happier how it came together. Want the break down of alllll the deets? Welcome to the Longacre House in Farmington Hills!24705 Farmington Rd, Farmington Hills, MI 48336
The outdoor space that the house has makes a perfect location for an outdoor ceremony. The grounds surrounding the house is full of beautiful tree lines and gardens for photos.
One of the coolest parts of this venue is that it has a variety of different rooms that give couples the opportunity to spread out all of the different wedding elements. While having a large open space is more of a traditional layout, there is something so much more personal when a couple has a venue that allows for vignette design in each space. It is like giving your guests an opportunity to walk through a museum versus booth to booth when setting up banquet style tables. I mean look at this room in this photo? Can't you imagine amazing dress, or groomsmen or any type of photo being captured here?
Where do I even Begin???This space is truly one of a kind. In 2019 I attended a beautiful baby shower at this location so when my clients Anna & Josh mentioned that this is where they booked their big day I was SO EXCITED! How could I not be!? Both the indoor and outdoor spaces are stunning, its traditional style mixed with modern amentites and a STUNNING water front view, what more could you ask for? Welcome to the Grosse Pointe Ware Memorial! 32 Lake Shore Dr, Grosse Pointe Farms, MI 48236
My favorite part of the space are the rooms indoors. When you come in the front entrance you're welcomed by these beautifully preserved historical spaces. These spaces are perfect for cocktail hours, showers, small events exc. What is so nice is that ( when allowed ) your guests can mingle throughout the spaces and have PLENTY to be in aw of. SERIOUSLY!!
So what about the reception space? The BEST thing about this space is..Yup you guessed it..The view!!!
I look forward to working in this space with Anna & Josh next year and hopefully many more couples to come! Check out more images from my trip below!! Till Next Time..Cheers! Slainte! Salud! SO.... the is the first stop on my venue tour, The St. John INN! 202o has been one hell of a weird year so that means my tour has been no different! Normally by the middle of the summer I have already been to a few places, but this year my tour was postponed. However, it hasn't stopped me from visiting as many places as possible now ( safely of course ) so that I can continue to refer my couples to the venue that fits their vision! Let's get started!
This space above....YES you guessed it is the beautiful courtyard. I am so lucky to have a couple using this space. We have so much opportunity to make it their own but honestly....it's stunning even without much added. Their wedding is in December and I think that, especially with the beautiful installation of holiday decor that St. John already does, their vision of a romantically lit space will easily come to fruition. This space accommodates round and banquet style tables perfectly which I really think is a stunning spatial layout, not to mention you have a ton of great options for where and how to do all of the amazing things on your list. I really am drawn to that type of backyard, bistro, outdoors concept for events. This space allows for all of that BUT ALSO gives you the security of being indoors (no rain worries WOOP WOOP). The natural light during early parts of the event shines in and creates this welcoming atmosphere, and at night the lantern artificial light ( in combination with bistro ) shines on the variety of architectural details that makes this space one of a kind. Thank you to Linda, who took the time out of her busy day to walk us through the space, for having us. You were was so accommodating and treated us with outstanding hospitality. This assures me that you and your team go above and beyond for your couples. Till Next Time.. Cheers! Slainte! Salud!
IT IS SO EXCITING!!!!!I am so excited to welcome this sweet couple to the studio! I assisted her future sister-in-law with her wedding a few years back and I am pumped that I will get to assist in another love story within the family!
I asked Laura to give me a small glimpse into the start of their love story and this is what she shared: "We met at Maru, a sushi restaurant Ben works at part time, I was third-wheeling on Sweetest Day with some close friends. Ben was serving our group and engaged in some fun banter throughout our time there. With some (a lot) of encouragement from my friends, I left a note on the back of the receipt: "Call/Text Me Maybe?" along with my number, and my best attempt at a winking emoji. Ben texted me right after his shift and hasn't stopped since." As a huge fan of both Maru sushi andddd "how we met stories" I love this note on a receipt story on another level. I am so excited to be sharing in a small piece of this couples next chapter! Cheers! Slainte! Salud! So excited to welcome Ariana and Jeff to the studio family! While we started their process a few weeks back, I wanted to give them a warm welcome this today!
Ariana and Jeff met four years ago through mutual friends, he was always shy and Ariana is very outgoing. Ariana is a hairstylist and, when first meeting, Jeff asked her if she did "in home" haircuts LOL. She passed along her business card to him with the wrong phone number! LMAO!! Well one night, after a couple drinks and some liquid courage he called her from a friends phone and they went on a date two days later! THE REST IS HISTORY! "It makes things easy when you become best friends with the one you are in love with"--Could not agree more Ariana!! Jeff and Ariana's proposal story is incredibly romantic! Jeff surprised Ariana at her aunt and uncles home in Beaverton, MI. Imagine the beautiful lakefront view and a red carpet covered in a trail of rose petals and candles lit. Can you guess what it lead to!? YUP Jeff on one knee with a banner saying " Ariana will you marry me". HOW SWEEETTT! " He's an outdoorsy kind of guy and I'm the girly girl. Opposites definitely attract." I am more than looking forward to working with these two. Only after speaking with Ariana a few times as we start this process, I could tell that she and Jeff are going to be a blast to work with! Welcome you two! Cheers! Slainte! Salud! It is no secret the world is upside down right now. With the COVID-19 changing our everyday lives, and moving faster than we can keep up with, priorities are shifting. The powers at hand are doing everything they can to prevent this virus from spreading at a rate that would be detrimental to our world. While most of us are very understanding and are following each rule placed by the CDC and our governments, it does not take away the stress if you are planning ANY type of event within the near future. As an event specialist, and as a 2020 Bride myself, my own emotions are a bit all over the place. If you are anything like me, you find comfort in planning as much in advanced as possible. With our current climate this is practically impossible. I know, I haven't said ANYTHING comforting yet. Here is the bottom line, the rules and restrictions placed upon us are necessary. I am not one to watch the news, or keep up with the latest topics on the regular, but this situation undeniably affects EVERYONE. So after thinking about what my next steps are for my clients, my myself and Jesus, and for my business I have decided to just take it day by day. So.... You can find many resources ( and I am sure they will continue to grow as time passes) on how to handle postponing your event., What I am going to provide in this small blog is a document I created for myself and I am calling the BRIDAL BACKUP.
What's Next???What are the steps that I recommend taking? They are different depending on when your event is. These steps focus on if your event is within the next 8 WEEKS. If you have a wedding planner get them involved in your process ASAP. 1. Talk to your partner I would hope that many would see this as step one. Maybe some of you put being angry and sad first and THAT IS OKAY! Who could blame you. Here is the thing though, we have to pick up our shit and get to work figuring out our next steps. So, talk to your partner, how do you both feel about the options: Postponing, Adjusting the guest count ( which could be different depending on timing or maybe even not allowed depending on timing ), or...and I don't even want to say it but cancel. Here is the thing, I am not a believer in cancelling I am a believer in postponing. That is just me. While maybe in other situations this would be tough to do, being that our WHOLE WORLD is in the same boat vendors will do whatever they can to help you. One, because anyone who works in the wedding industry cares about their clients ( the mass majority at least) and two, at the end of the day we are EXCITED to have your business for whatever date you choose.. Whether now or later. 2. Make the Decision Once you have talked with your partner make the choice and stick to it. Nothing makes planning harder than indecisiveness. Having a final choice about what route you will take will make the conversations ahead of you much easier. DO NOT SECOND GUESS yourself. Hey if by the OG date of your wedding things have changed and the world is a little brighter but you have already changed your date...Do not talk yourself into going backwards. Think of the positive things about the changed date ( longer to save money, less stress because planing was spread out, maybe a honeymoon is an option now due to having more time ) It is tough right? We do not know what is going to happen in the next however many months. So make the choice on what your next step is and stick to it. Again, we are all in the same boat so if the world is still chaotic by the time your potential NEW date comes around..well..we have bigger problems. 3. Call your VENUE FIRST-Set the new date If you have decided to postpone ( which I am hoping is everyone's solution) get in touch with your venue FIRST! This will be one of the toughest things to change. BE OPEN MINDED! Maybe you have a longer timeline, maybe its a Friday or Sunday option your presented with..Work with them to find the best solution. Please keep in mind that this is NONE of your vendors fault, and we ALL want to be your teammates in this situation. 4. Reach out to your guests Your wedding will be on your wedding guests minds as soon as they realize when your date falls. If you have a WEDDING WEBSITE UPDATE that immediately. Even if the message is just " We are currently making the plans to postpone our wedding, please be patient as we ....". Update this site like a live feed and encourage your guests to check it. This is very important if the majority of your guests are TRAVELING. If your guests have hotel bookings and need to change those arrangements. The earlier you can let your guests know the better their chances are at making the adjustments to their travel plans and schedule. If you do not let your guests know the less chance they will be able to make the adjustments in time. 5. Call your Vendors: What are your options Alright now start the process of reaching out to your vendors. My suggestion is to email and to follow up with a phone call. Keep in mind that vendors are going to become more and more overwhelmed with how to re-schedule and plan all events postponed in conjunction with events already planned for later dates. Take a deep breath and remind yourslef that they are part of your team in this process. Ask them the hard questions: 1. Are you available these potential new dates? 2. If so ( YAY!) can you draw up a new contract with the updated information? 3. What are my new due dates for payments? 4. If NOT, what is the refund policy ( honestly, I am offering a full refund to my brides for 2020 if needed). 5. Can you provide me with a written cancelled contract ( I know this sounds crazy but I always say get everything in writing) 6. Ask if they have any recommendations of other professionals that may have availability. 6. Adjust your financial commitment due dates and scheduling After speaking to your vendors, and getting an idea of who you will be working moving forward and what new vendors you need to obtain, re-evaluate your position with both your financial commitment due dates and your scheduling. The good thing is, that postponing SHOULD ease some of the timeline pressure of payments due. This does not take into account for any circumstances that the COVID-19 put on job statuses, but in general more time can help with the money saved for the new date. 7. BREATHE! Pick up where you left off Okay, so..we have a new date, our vendors lined up, and we can pick up where we left off. Now, these steps do not cover all the small details but this will get you to a point where you will feel like the big things are covered. What If??Alright, one of the things I am coming across is what about if...So here are a few that I have heard already and I will commit to updating these as I get more questions. What if..I already sent my save the date?: Well the first thing I will ask you is if you have sent your invites. Guests will already be aware ( because you made them ) that your date is changing. So keep in mind that they are already prepared for your invite to not match your save the date. If you have sometime before your sending your invites, but want to let your guests know that you have already changed the date...Re-create your save the date with the new date and send it digitally! Create a group on Facebook! Send an email or text with the updated " We've Changed the Date" message! What if.. I already ordered my invites and they have the old date? Mhmm for me, again, guests are going to understand that the date has changed so you can do a few things. If you have the time call/ contact your vendor for your prints. See if they would give you a new set or a discount for re-prints. However, most of us do not have the luxury both financially and or based on timeline (STILL DOESN'T HURT TO ASK). So my suggestion is still send them! Add a small note in each invite explaining your NEW date and your understanding if their schedule will not be able to accommodate this change. I see nothing wrong with putting in a separate card into the envelope that compliments yours invitation. AGAIN if you have a wedding website make sure the accurate information is there so you can reference your guests to that. What if...I already ordered items with our date on it? Favors/ personalized elements/ Programs exc?: Out of everything I see this as the least of anyones concerns that day. I would say if you ordered adorable tags with your wedding date and that has changed? Still use them, no one is going to ask why, question, or judge you for it. Do not waste your time and energy on discarding items that are already paid for. Again this is my opinion. However, as mentioned above, if you are really worried about it reach out to the company you ordered from and see if they would be willing to create you a new set or give you a discount on a second order. What if..One of my vendors cannot accommodate my new date?: UGH this is the worst BUT again keep in mind imagine if roles were reversed. So if one of your vendors cannot accommodate your new date do not panic. I would hope ( because anyone I have worked with would) that they would fully refund you and give you suggestions others in their industry. If they do not have any recommendations for you reach out to other event planners, organizations, and resources for their suggestions. We are all willing to help and give suggestions out to couples whether your a client of our own or not. As I am asked more questions I will post my suggestions here!!
While we work our way through this very uncertain time it is important to appreciate everything we do still have. Remember, an wedding or an event can always be postponed to better times. What you cannot get back is time with your loved ones. So, as long as you and your partner commit to showing up for whatever date you have to change to...Then you've beat this. Here are some other links for suggestions if your big day is going to be changed due to the COVID-19 Pandemic: https://www.theknotnews.com/coronavirus-questions-wedding-planning-42907?utm_source=covid&utm_medium=web https://www.brides.com/what-to-know-about-coronavirus-and-wedding-planning-4799160 https://thebudgetsavvybride.com/the-coronavirus-and-your-wedding/ When preparing for the big day we hire and work with vendors of all sorts. Most of these vendors are hired to help us get the space, the food, the music, and the booze ready. However, when I really think about my own thinking process one of the BIGGEST things that I worry about is honestly....How I will look in that DRESS! I am sure you have seen the T-shirts that say Sweating for the Wedding....Well this month still being early in the year I really wanted to shed some light on another type of professional that can help you hit those health and weight loss goals that you have set for yourself. While health and fitness are important ALL THE TIME.. Do not get me wrong here, you shouldn't just care about these things during the wedding planning process, but if you do not already have a routine that is best suited for your physical AND mental health...WHY NOT START one while leading up to one of the BEST DAYS EVER! P.S. It is not just about the physical health practices leading up to that day, but also the mental health practices. Both our body's and our minds react to stress and sometimes we just need the right support to help us stay balanced. I MEAN AM I RIGHT?? The ProfessionalsNow, if your anything like me...Knowing and understanding the best way to go about developing a health and wellness routine is not in my wheelhouse. So, just as I encourage all my design clients.... work with a professional!!! These are the type of people that are PASSIONATE about these categories and would love to work with you on developing the right routine that is unique to you. Honestly, one thing that I have learned from my own journey is that NO ONE PERSONS health and wellness routine is the same. These individuals can work with you on finding yours. Brandie BattenHey everyone! My name is Brandie, and I am a Michigander, born and raised. I love to be adventurous and explore our beautiful state, and others, whenever I get the chance. Outdoor activities such as, hiking, kayaking, and bicycling are just a couple things I enjoy when I am not working. I also love to read; I'm a podcast junkie, I enjoy spending time with my dogs, I find peace in writing, and I love me some coffee! I am also now registered to become a certified YOGA instructor! "What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals." -Zig ZiglarFavorite Products My pre-workout is my favorite. It tastes like fruit punch, depending on my morning I am able to take 2 scoops instead of one if I need the extra umph, and it is packed with nutrients and vitamins to keep my body balanced and ready for any workout! Favorite Programs PiYo (Pilates and yoga mix): is one of my most favorite workouts to do. It's relaxing yet intense at the same time. In just 30 minutes I am able to work my entire body, while also improving my flexibility and focus. Yoga: is my go to work out. It is relaxing, helps with flexibility, focus and breathing, and it can be practiced almost anywhere with little to no equipment necessary. Many people underestimate the power and the intensity of yoga; It is both a mind and body experience. It is a well rounded practice. What is your biggest struggle? Oh man, my biggest struggle?! If I am going to be honest, it is sleep; the snooze is my nemesis. I am one of those people that take my sleep seriously. I find it hard making sure I get to sleep between 9-10pm, so that I can get enough sleep to wake up at 4:30am to get my morning routine in. But my first step to fixing this was determining a bedtime for myself (9-10pm). I did that by deciding how many hours of sleep I want and need, which in my case, I prefer 7 1/2 - 8, if I can. The next step was forcing myself out of bed at the sound of my alarm. How do I do that? Put my phone (my alarm is on my phone) across the room! Not only does that keep me from scrolling through pinterest at 11 o'clock at night, but it forces my body to move in order to make the noise stop. Now as long as I follow those two things, I am good to go at 4:30am. Am I a saint? No. Life happens, we all know that. You just have to have the ability to adapt to the changes as they come about, while keeping your mind focused on your goals. If you hit snooze and miss your morning workout, find a way to increase your activity level throughout the day, or plan your workout to be in the evening instead. It's all about adaptation, focus, and mindset. "One of the most memorable moments in one's life is their wedding day. |
While working towards your big day, it is important for both to remember why you're waking up at 4am to workout, or why you're spending your entire afternoon grocery shopping and meal prepping, it is important to remember who you're doing it for, and why. First, you need to choose this change for yourself, no one else. Once you've done that, you need to talk with your soon to be spouse about each others goals and how you can support one another throughout their health and fitness journey. Then, plan, plan, plan! Choose a fitness program that suits your needs, and focus on your nutrition and water intake. Reach out to friends, family, coach, or community to share your journey, for accountability and record. Finally, crush your goals TOGETHER |
When it comes to max results on a short deadline high Intensity workouts produce maximum results quicker than the lower impact workouts. I have programs that are as short as 21 days, or as long as 100! Some programs are more intense than others, and range from beginner to advanced, so there is something for everyone!
After the Big Day.... Just because your big day is over doesn't mean your healthy choices should be. It can be too easy to fall back into your old ways, but with a true understanding of why you want to be healthy, a personal coach to hold you accountable, and a community of like-minded people that are working on bettering themselves also, you will reach your goals and maintain them.

My focus for coaching is definitely mental and physical health at the moment. However, my goal is to get my degree in nutrition! What you put in your body affects both your mental and physical health, and I think that’s super interesting!
I am currently in the process of becoming a certified health and wellness coach. I have always been passionate about the health and wellness world. Throughout the years, I have tried all the diets, workouts plans, morning routines and healthy habits. I have read books and listened to all kinds of podcasts in the subject. I finally decided I wanted to become like the person on the other side and coach people! I currently have a career in accounting so this change has been really different, but definitely sets my “soul on fire”.

Favorite Programs
I have tried numerous programs, gym membership, studio memberships and my favorite has been at home workouts. Reason? Simple, no room to make excuses if it’s right in your house! You can workout at anytime! The fun part is that you can even workout in pjs!
What is your biggest struggle??
My biggest struggle in building my routine has been simply not sticking to something long enough. As I mentioned before, I love to learn and try to new things. Although that could be awesome, and fun, it can also be a set back!
What worked for me was sharing my journey with other people and my fiancé! This kept me motivated and it kept me on track. On days that my fiancé wouldn’t workout with me, I would still do it to prove to myself that I can do it on my own! I also shared my activity on my apple watch with friends and competed weekly!

What is your advice for couples getting ready for their big day?? My biggest advice is to plan together! I bought a dry erase board and placed it in my kitchen. Each week we would write down our workouts, meals, wedding deadlines such as payments due, menus due, or meetings. This helps us get a snapshot of our week/month was looking. Stress levels would stay low because we scheduled time to do everything that had to get done! Doing this also kept my fiancé in the loop and it didn’t feel as if I was planning everything on my own. “Do the things today that will help the future you!” |
What Programs do you suggest for a tight deadline... In my opinion whatever your decide to start, just be consistent! If you put in the work you will get results in anything that you do! If you’re looking to become the best version of yourself, then start your journey by doing something you already love! It could be anything! Example, if you enjoy walking, try walking everyday for at least 20 minutes a day. Once you feel comfortable with that increase to 30 minutes and so on. Don’t torture yourself and do something you genuinely don’t enjoy doing. Don’t just start doing something because other people got great results. Remember, you know yourself better than anyone else!
What about maintaining...Think lifestyle! Don’t focus on the short term results. As mention earlier, start by doing things you already love doing. Mindset and motivation is what is going to get you started. Determination and discipline is what is going to maintain you!
Getting a coach to help you stay focus would be beneficial! You need to build strong habits to keep in the game! Getting married is a life changing event, so why not bring the new you along the way!

Favorite Products:
I absolutely love drinking Shakeology. It’s a superfoods packed meal replacement shake. It helps with cravings, lean muscle, gut health, system support, and stress. I’ve been drinking it for almost 10 years now and love it!! It helps me stay on track when it can be tough and is delicious. I mix mine with coconut milk, spinach, 1/2 a banana, collagen and ice. It’s usually my breakfast every single day. Cafe Latte is my favorite flavor. |
Favorite Programs:
21 Day Fix - I love this program because Autumn Calabrese helps me always feel empowered and it’s a great quick program for an event coming up or even a quick program to light a fire in me and get back on track! It mixes strength training, cardio, pilates and yoga. I love programs that mix it up so you never get bored. There is a regular 21 Day program and also an Extreme version. The workout program comes with an easy to follow nutrition plan for maximum results.
P90X3 - This is one my favorite programs because the trainer Tony Horton helped me get back in shape after getting off track when my teaching career started. I enjoyed the mix of workouts and that they were all 30 minutes. Tony has just the right amount of goofiness and seriousness to make the 30 minutes fly by.
Any Shaun T program - Insanity, Insanity: Max 30, T25, Transform: 20 - all liked for different reasons. Insanity and Insanity: Max 30 are great advanced programs, while T25 and Transform: 20 are still very challenging workouts that I believe anyone can do. Shaun T balances the perfect amount of strength, core and cardio in all of these programs.
LIIFT4 - This program with trainer Joel Freeman mixes weights, core, and high intensity interval training. I did this program in a summer where I was so busy because it’s only 4 days/week. It’s great for a busy person like me! By following the schedule and the nutrition plan, I saw great results. I also love the mix of workouts and no workout is the same, which is awesome!!

What is your biggest struggle????
My biggest struggle in maintaining my own routine is definitely waking up in the morning to get my workout in, as well as staying on track all of the time with my nutrition. When I work out in the morning, I am up by 4:30. Getting up early is hard!! To help battle this, I always set out my workout clothes the night before so I am ready to go. Sometimes I even sleep in my sports bra to make it easier! If I am ever trying to talk myself out of it in the morning, I remind myself how thankful I’ll be later that it’s done. It’s harder for me to work out in the evenings with coaching and my family. I also allow myself grace. If there is a morning I do not wake up, I immediately plan a time later in my day to get it done. This way there’s no excuse later!
I also find it hard to focus on my nutrition all of the time with family events, plans with friends and holidays. I have learned to overcome this by allowing balance! I am happier with a balanced life. This means eating healthy and doing my best to Fuel my body with healthy foods, but also allowing myself the foods and beverages I love. I have found that I stick to my journey better because of this!! So, I love fruits, veggies, healthy proteins, fats, and carbs, but I also love pizza, beer, wine and sweets. A balanced diet is everything!

What is your advice for couples getting ready for the big day!!!
Mentally: My advice for couples who are working towards the big day, when it comes to the mental aspect, is to find the joy in everything you are doing. It can be so tough trying to make everyone happy, but always remember the big picture! Your wedding is for you and your future husband. At the end of the day, make sure you are making decisions for your future family. Also, download a wedding app that schedules a timeline for you. That was EVERYTHING for me!! I loved that I had a schedule to follow that gave me the dates everything should be done. If something is going to cause you a lot of stress, ask for help! Find someone else to do it. And if it costs money, I believe the money is worth it if it helps your mental health.
Physically: My advice for couples on the physical level is to find a routine you will stick with. If you don’t find a program and plan you are passionate about and that works for you, you won’t follow through. Remember that you want to feel your best on your big day! I also believe that working on the physical aspect will help you with the mental aspect. Physical activity does wonders for not only our body, but also our health in every way.
The biggest programs I recommend for max results with a strict deadline are 21 Day Fix, 21 Day Fix Extreme (both 3 weeks),Transform: 20 (6 weeks) and LIIFT4 (8 weeks).
To maintain healthy habits after the wedding, you have to find your WHY. Why do you want to focus on your fitness and nutrition? What’s your motivation? Every person is different, but I knew that when my husband and I decided to start a family, I wanted to be in the best shape I could be. I also feel better when I am active. I feel more alert, productive and happy in general! Staying healthy is so important to maintain success in all areas of our lives including our marriage, parenting, relationship with family and friends, with our job, and our mental health."

"Our bodies want to do well for us; it's in their nature. We just have to do well for our bodies."
Favorite Programs 2B Mindset (a nutritional and wellness program) because it focuses on our relationship with food, not just a black and white diet. Transform :20 (a home fitness program) because it supports a busy schedule while still getting in one of the most effective workouts I've ever had...in just 20 minutes. |
What is the biggest struggle??
Getting out of your own way. As humans, we are so quick to talk ourselves out of spending time on US while the majority of our day is spent on everyone and everything else. If you make your routine your sacred time of day, you will start to crave it, not loathe it. You just need to find something that you're happy spending 30 minutes on and pivot when you get bored.
What is your advice to couples getting ready for their big day??
I know we always put this big pressure on our wedding days as the "once in a lifetime event"--and while I hold my own wedding day near and dear to my heart, I wish we could step back and remember that the path to follow is just as important and exciting. So while you focus on health and fitness goals leading up to your big day, remember to do all things with joy as you head there. Remember that taking care of you and your health helps you show up as a better spouse with less stress and a clearer mindset.
Tight timelines: I love 21 Day Fix for it's quick, 3 week time frame and it's easy-to-fit-in 30 minute routine. Each workout is dynamic and focuses on the entire body, using weights, cardio, and even yoga.

First, have a toast to the huge event you and your new spouse just pulled off! And as you ease back into your "normal" routine without having to spend use every spare minute on planning a wedding, remember that you are a unit now. Taking care of yourself is just as important as taking care of each other! Have fun with your new routine as a married person and try out new meal planning ideas and lunch packing tricks. And heck, try starting a fitness routine together to help you stay connected during the bustle that is life.
One other thing I would love to share about Lindsay is her published work! Check out her plant based cook book called "Graze".
How amazing is it that I get to assist these two women in their big day!!! What makes this event EVEN MORE EXCITING is that they are getting married at the Belle Isle Casino here in Detroit. ( we know just how much I love this spot!)!!!
Welcome Andrea & Amanda! I am so excited to be working with you to develop and stage your decor. I look forward to learning more about the two of you to make the space 100% unique to your vision!
Let the count down begin for their nuptials this upcoming September!
Cheers!Slainte!Salud!

UGH does this photo not just make you want to snuggle up with this fur BABY!
So for this months topic I have decided to focus on our furry favorites. This topic has been a conversation between Jesus and I as well for our big day. It's tricky right? You want them there to be a part of the moment but it also requires more attention to making sure they stay safe, that they aren't too disruptive ( because any dog in a new place with 200 people can get excited), and that they have everything they need at the venue during the event.
So while we debate this as a couple on if, or how, or who, or in what way we will have Chevy at ours... I figured I would go through some of the options that are out there!

Helping Announce!- Save the Dates
One of the first ways that you can include your lovable four legged family members is by including them in your engagement photos. Creating cute signs, and accessories to give them a voice makes the most adorable Save the Date. Phrases like: "I loved her first" "Mom said Yes!" "My mom and dad are getting Married" Are just a few. |
Bar Service
No I do not mean literally serving the bar, even as funny and adorable as that would be, I mean naming drinks after your furry friend or using their image as signage to show reference to them!
This idea is one of my favorites!! Especially if you already planned on doing a His and Her drink why not add another for them!!! This is one of our favorite ideas and I am betting you will see it at our wedding. There are soo many different graphic artists who can create these custom signs for you! Check out these Etsy Shops!

Doggie Bags
I will admit this idea I find SOO cute and I have not seen done before. I love the idea of sending guests home with treats for their fur babies. Sure it is an extra thing, but if your trying to find a way to represent your fur baby on your big day, why not send treats in their name?
There are a ton of homemade dog treat recipes you can DIY but you can also order baked dog goods at many pet stores and pet boutiques. Reach out to your nearest pet stores and see what they have. I would strongly suggest making sure any treats you send home with your guests you list ingredients in case their fur babies at home have allergies.

The Ring "Barker"
Of course...There is always the option of including your fur baby in the wedding itself. Whether that means asking a family member to help them walk down the isle, having them walk with you, acting in as the ring "barker", or simply sitting as a guest observing the nuptials.
For us, WOO I do not know. I think Jesus and I would love to have Chevy walk with me, or before me going down the isle. I adopted him over 7 years ago and I would love for him to be a part of our big day. We are so lucky to have found Jesus who loves us BOTH and has accepted us as a package deal. I mean he is technically the one who brought us together!! Oh you do not know that story?? Check out Ar Sceal, Nuestra Historia, Our Story for the full details on that.
Until next time!
Cheers!Slainte!Salud!
P.S. Is this not the cutest photo! Thank you Focused Soul for capturing this image for us! Notice the bosses paw on top.....
