"Creativity is how I share my soul with the world"-Brene Brown
This is me...
So if you have clicked on the link to get yourself here it must mean you want to learn a little about me? I can understand that, you are trusting me and my team with a very important day of your life ( I would do the same). I hope in reading my story you gain a sense of comfort, a sense of family and maybe a laugh or two. Here we go!
In the last handful of years while running my business my own personal story has taken quite a few turns. There have been times where I didn't know if continuing my business was going to be possible. If it had not been for my amazing clients, their visions, and my stubbornness, I would not be here finally writing my own story after being in business for a little over 5 years. I have been blessed also with a huge support system, our team is a collection of interior design students, family, and friends. This studio is even more special due to the fact that so much love goes into each clients day, even if the client only sees me, they have a family in the studio.
I am from the east side of the state, parents born and raised in the city of Detroit, and when they had myself and my sisters, we were moved to "metro Detroit". I come from a family of very strong women and I really do believe that this is a huge contributing factor to my discipline in anything that I do #bosslady . Family, and friends that turn into such, have always been a priority in my life. I love my pit bull named Chevy and he also plays a roll in the late nights packing and prepping for each client.
When going to college I decided to explore the west side of the state specifically the city they call Kalamazoo. Kalamazoo was where my business was born, its been where my education and almost all of my adult hood, up until now, has took place. I went to Western Michigan University, I studied interior design and business. I have also taught at the university and still do for the same program I graduated from! I absolutely love teaching and helping my students nurture their passion for design. I have recently moved back to the "D" and could not be more excited to continue helping writing love stories on the east side.
When I first moved to Kalamazoo I accepted a job in visual merchandising not really knowing what I would be doing. Let's be honest, once you have committed to paying back student loans you take whatever job you can get your hands on as new grad. For those of you who do not know, visual merchandising is the practice of using design elements and principles, business practices and a detailed eye to create retail or hospitality environments that help encourage companies reach their goals. I adore visual merchandising because I was able to inspire people, nothing made me happier than when client would walk into the showroom and be excited about something that I created.
I feel the same way about staging weddings as I do with showrooms. I have been staging showrooms for seven years now and the things I have learned through this experience have greatly contributed to my success doing weddings for the last five. Wedding staging for me started with friends and family asking me to assist them on their big day. Trusting my design background and eye for detail they hired me to help them create their vision. After doing my first few I fell in love with the process and started to dream about what this could turn into. I use my experiences from the variety of jobs and passions that I had or currently have; I have dabbled into backdrop and prop design, cosmetic practices, merchandising, furniture refurbishment, and quite the addiction to taking odd things and making them beautiful.
So....5 years ago, I introduced ARC Design studios, working out a process that brings my clients a series of steps and options that allows them to make their day completely personal to them. I pride this studio on the idea that no two events are the same. and each client can feel comfortable with both the process, and to be quite honest, the price. Our goal is to take the stress out of the process as much as we can with the event styling and decor. For most clients its sort of the last thought in the planning, which then leads to a quick panic of what to do! We take all of that stress and put it on our shoulders, the planning, the gathering, the setting up and the tearing down.
Before I let you continue to browse the site, I just want to let you know.....I appreciate you taking the time to read this story, to read just a snip bit about me. If you decide to trust our studio with your event you will get to know me much more.. As I have mentioned in other parts of my site we become family. How couldn't we right? I am part of one of the most important days of your life, its bound to happen.
So without writing you a whole other chapter...CONGRATS..ENJOY this time...and send me message lets chat, lets grab a coffee, hey maybe even a beer ( did I mention I am pretty irish?)?? Lets write your story!
