"It's not about what it is, it's about what it can become"- Dr. Suess
Amanda.Rose.Creative Welcome to the studio! I am so happy you decided to click through! I am Amanda Rose (soon to be Amanda Rose Sancen ) and I am the owner and designer here at the studio! I am a almost 30 ( WOAH where did that time go), engaged, Irish, boss lady designer who loves her two favorite guys ( fiance Jesus and pitbull Chevy), friends, family, a good shot of whiskey or tequila, and all types of design. I am obsessed with succulents, herbs ( rosemary and basil people), the farmers market, DIY, shrimp tacos and mole ( thank you to my future mother-in-law for growing my obsession for authentic Mexican food), planners with a new pen ( nothing likkee it), and everything vintage and/or antique.
I have been designing forever..Can I just say that? I was one of those kids who knew EXACTLY what she wanted to do without question growing up. With an education in Interior design, almost a decade of experience in retail design and visual merchandising, and a love for ALL things creative and handmade, I am happy to now live back in Detroit, an area that celebrates all of the above.
If I had to describe my own personal style...I would call it collected...Anyone who knows design terms will say that this makes ZERO sense. I understand that, and sometimes laugh at it myself, but this is what I mean. When I say collected it means I collect favorite parts from each standard design style to blend it into my own. For example, I love the rough texture from a rustic/farmhouse style ( I collect from this standard style the most) , but I love the combination of materials that the mid-century standard style uses. Well....isn't that Eclectic...AH kinda.. But I collect constantly, For different spaces or projects I collect different elements from each, and my collections evolve, I guess I use collected as the term to mean the ACTION of collecting my favorite ideas or elements from each style and building them into something unique. I do this for myself but also for my clients in each design category that I offer services in. I also...in a literal sense..LOVE and always AIM to use collected items in my design projects. Whether those items are my clients collections or my own personal items, my goal is to celebrate the chapters of each of our stories. Spaces that have a story never go out of style.
Prior to moving back to Detroit I was living in Kalamazoo on the west side of the state, and believe me I did love it there. I taught and practiced interior design and visual merchandising when first starting the studio, and I am very excited it is now come full circle back home.
As you can tell from the variety of areas of design that my site encompass I have my hands in a few genres. Honestly though, and this is the truth, design is design. NOW before I have someone throw a fit and tell me I am crazy hear me out.... The basic elements and principles of design, the processes of how to work through a project, and the balance between function and aesthetics apply to every type of design. So yes, there will always be differences, but if you argue that my first statement isn't correct you have not experienced enough.. Regardless though, of what project I am working on and which genre it falls into, I keep the same main objectives in mind... Keeping it Custom, keeping it Creative, and keeping it Collaborative.
